About SB:

Sophie shoots mostly from her studio in London, next to the Regent’s Canal in Islington. Specializing in still life and food photography, her work has recently included shooting theperfect pear for a Glenfiddich whisky Ad to furniture designed by Terence Conran,  for M & S.

Through her work, Sophie likes to highlight the beauty of objects by looking for graphic viewpoints and creating pure environments with graduations of light. The sense of space and abstraction that she first discovered in her studies continues to be present in her work, where she sometimes enjoys subverting the subject matter to create tension and drama. She works with high end digital studio cameras and very experienced digital and lighting assistants to create the ultimate
images clients seek. She has a lot of experience managing complex commissions with multiple usage requirements, and tight retouching deadlines.

Sophie Broadbridge started her creative career at Art School in the UK. She attended a foundation art course and from there was accepted onto a Textile Art Degree at Goldsmiths’ College in London. She became interested in creating installation art. Through this genre, she explored lighting of translucent materials, and making photographic documentation of these spaces. The photographs became the artwork, and so it continued.

After travelling for a year, she went on to the London College of Communication, gaining distinction on a ‘Professional Photography Practise’ Diploma, where she developed an interest in still life photography.

In 1999, Sophie gained work as a freelance photographic assistant, working with still life photographers. She worked full time for 2 years with highly respected Advertising photographer Kevin Summers, developing her style as she assisted him and shot for herself at weekends.

By 2002, Sophie had set up her own business and quickly won commissions from top Advertising Agencies, and from some editorial and design groups. She has shot worldwide campaigns for Canon & Stella Artois, & Glenfiddich, UK campaigns for Virgin, John Lewis, Thorntons, Twinings and Fortnum & Mason. She has been featured in Lurzers Archive, and the 200 Best Ad Photographers worldwide.
